Miscarriage and infant loss

October is a time where change is apparent in North Dakota. Many mourn the loss of warmth and the summer sun, however, if you're like me there is anticipation with every season change because each season brings its own beauty. This has bought an opportunity for reflection regarding the "seasons" of my own life. Our family lost one child, early in pregnancy in 2019, and I feel I have reached a time where I am in a new season of that loss. I can see glimpses of beauty now among the loss. I see this beauty as I listen to my children; remember their sibling, visit the burial place and speak of what life could be like if she was with us on Earth.

I am grateful for this new season, especially when our hearts ache. October is an awareness month for several reasons, and one that is close to our hearts is miscarriage and infant loss.
