Foundation to host "The Feud" Saturday

This Saturday, live-action game show excitement returns to New Rockford!

Minot-based Encore Events presents "The Feud" and "Name That Tune," on Saturday, Nov. 5 at the New Rockford Eagles Club. This event features local contestants against a backdrop of great food and drinks, all to raise funds for a local charity.

New Rockford Community Foundation (NRCF), a nonprofit established in 2008, is building a perpetual fund from which the earnings will provide money for important local projects long into the future! This evening encompasses the foundation's one annual fund drive, meant to steadily grow the fund's principal balance.

Last year, the NRCF switched gears after taking three years off from its annual game show fundraiser, Deal or No Deal, which started in 2012. Attendees busted a gut in more ways than one in 2021, first feasting on delicious food and then laughing hysterically as host Dustin Miller hosted the hilarious game show.

The Homelvig family, owners of G & R Grain and Feed, took home $1,000 in cash and bragging rights in the first-ever game of "The Feud" in New Rockford. The Allmaras family came away with a win of their own, in the "Name That Tune" game.

NRCF chairperson Josh Guler said Tuesday that there's still room for more teams in both the Feud and Name That Tune. Teams of five that want to get in on the action should call Amanda at (701) 947-2205. The cost is $150 per Feud team and $50 for Name That Tune.

Prefer to sit in the audience and watch others sweat in the hot seat? Tickets to this year's event are again $50, which includes dinner and the show. Purchase tickets from any NRCF board member: Josh Guler, Laura Hager, Kerri Allmaras, Amy Ellingson, Alyson Myhre, Becki Schumacher or Barb Granger.

The evening begins with a social at 5 p.m. Dinner is served at 6 p.m, with the games underway by 7 p.m.

The lead sponsors for this year's Feud include Eagles #2923, Bank Forward, Divide Electrical & Automation, Columbia Grain, Dauenhauer Diesel, Razor Nutrients, Yri Electric, Dekalb Asgrow, Nicolai Chiropractic, New Rockford Lions Club and Fessenden Co-op Association.

All proceeds go to the New Rockford Community Foundation, which awarded four grants this past spring:

• Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts received $2,500 to produce its summer show, "Little Shop of Horrors."

• The Women's Auxiliary Cemetery Association was awarded $1,300 for the John Deere tractor and electrical line burial.

• Community Ambulance Service of New Rockford used the $1,000 they received to purchase an airway mannequin for training.

• New Rockford Area Betterment Corporation put their $500 in grant funds towards the Summer Street Market events they hosted in downtown New Rockford this summer.

The North Dakota Community Foundation oversees the management of the endowment fund and helps the Advisory Committee raise additional funds every year. For more information, please visit http://www.NDCF.net/NewRockford.
