Rockets zap Chargers 3-0

Last match on the Rocket court for Myhre, Dockter & Duda

The final home game for the Rockets has come and gone.

The Rockets hosted the Nelson County Chargers on Tuesday, Oct. 25, and with this being their last home game, each of the NR-S seniors and their parents were recognized on the court before the game.

Congratulations to Madisen Myhre, Kyria Dockter and Emma Duda on a great volleyball season, and thank you for being great leaders to the underclassmen. Now let's finish out the regular season strong and take on regionals!

After the seniors were announced, the Chargers presented Bailey Jacobson with a volleyball with the phrase "Together We Fight" written on it, with flowers attached.

The Chargers also generously donated $1,000 to the Jacobson family, matching a donation of the same size by Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich. Thank you, Nelson County, for helping one of our own in their time of need.

After their recent win over the Griggs-Midkota Lady Titans, the Rockets were amped up and ready to put on a show for the home crowd.

The first set went by quickly, as the Rockets managed to defeat the Chargers by 17 points.

The next set started off by going back and forth, with points being scored by both the Rockets and Chargers. But despite Nelson County's best efforts, NR-S eventually established control, pulling away to defeat the Chargers 25-15 in the second set.

The Rockets grew even more dominant as the night went on, only allowing the Chargers to score six points in the third set, which mainly came from minor NR-S errors, such as hits that soared out of bounds or into the net. Other than those errors, the Rockets had a phenomenal game.

Kelsie Belquist led the Rockets in kills, with 11. NR-S sophomore, Kaiya O'Connor, held the most points for the Rockets in digs and aces with 15 and five respectively. Also scoring double digits with digs were Kyria Dockter with 11 and Belquist with 10.

Ava Peterson scored a total of 26 assists against the Chargers.

The b-squad, c-squad and seventh grade teams also walked away victorious.

This game was the last game for both of the junior high teams. Congratulations to all of the junior high girls on your season.

A special shout out to Bruce Hirchert, Gary Lindquist and Duane Beauclair for assisting in announcing and running the scoreboard during the games. You all are a great asset to NR-S volleyball.

The Rockets will travel to Grafton on Tuesday, Nov. 1 to take on the Grafton Spoilers (A,B,C) starting at 4:45 p.m.

This will be the Rockets' final regular season game. So fans, pack up your things and drive to Grafton on Tuesday night to cheer on your Rockets one more time before the region tournament on Nov. 7, 8 & 9.

A full bracket for the Super Region 4 Volleyball Tournament will be posted to the Transcript's website as soon as it's available (www.newrockfordtranscript.com), and will be published in next week's paper.
