Spoiler Alert: Rockets defeat Grafton in three, seeded second in Region

The Rockets completed their regular season game on Tuesday, Nov. 1, as they traveled two hours northeast to take on the Grafton Spoilers.

Although this was a non-region matchup, the Rockets played as if it was. All of the players were on top of their games, both on the offensive and defensive side of things.

This new rotation has really changed the team around from the beginning of the season.

The back row is sending great passes to the setter. The setter is sending great sets to the hitters and the hitters are swinging at most sets, earning multiple kills.

There wasn't one single key player for this game, as the entire team had an outstanding game against the Spoilers.

Ava Peterson, Lucy Meier and Lora Wobbema manned the net with blocks. Meier led the Rockets with two blocks total, with Peterson and Wobbema each adding one.

Serving was a huge thing for the Rockets. Little to no errors came from behind the serving line, and it showed with 12 aces scored between nearly the entire team.

Kelsie Belquist excelled in passing and hitting, scoring 19 in both digs and kills. Madisen Myhre also had an excellent game at the net, earning seven kills for the Rockets. NR-S libero, Kyria Dockter, also scored in double digits for the Rockets, earning 16 digs.

Since being moved from setter to an outside hitter, Kaiya O'Connor has done extremely well, not only as a passer, but also as a hitter. O'Connor had a total of nine digs and four kills against the Spoilers.

The Rockets b-squad also walked away victorious. Key players from the b-squad game were outside hitters, Logan Cudworth and Emmie Belquist. Both Cudworth and E. Belquist excelled at the net, earning many kills for the Rockets.

The c-squad team however was defeated by the Spoilers. Addysen Fandrich and Tillie Swart were huge assets at the net, scoring multiple kills from the middle hitter position.

The Rockets took the number two seed in the Class B Region IV tournament in Devils Lake. The Rockets will take on the winner of the region play-in game between Nelson County and Dunseith.

The bracket is shown below, and is also posted on our website at http://www.newrockfordtranscript.com.

Congrats on your regular season! Now go out and play like you haven't before, and take on regionals like a champ!

Fans, make sure you head up to Devils Lake on Nov. 7, 8 and 10 to cheer on the Rockets as they compete in the Region IV tournament!
