Since his first games with UND back in 2021, Bo Belquist has been putting on a show for the Fighting Hawks.
With Belquist on the field, UND Football has greatly benefitted from the same Belquist family athleticism that helped propel New Rockford-Sheyenne to regional championships in both football and basketball.
As a starting wide receiver for UND, Belquist has emerged as one of the top pass catchers in the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC), and fans have taken notice.
Back in September, the Grand Forks Herald published an in-depth feature about Belquist and his upbringing, as well as his success at NR-S and the work ethic that allows him to succeed at a high level.
It was proof of just how popular he'd become. Fans of UND football have grown reliant on Belquist's pass catching abilities and accustomed to his success. In three seasons, Belquist's stats show just how steadily he's improved each and every year.
As a freshman, he earned three touchdowns, averaged just over 10 yards per catch, and ranked second on the team in receiving yards with 255.
As a sophomore, Belquist led the team in receiving with 52 receptions, 535 receiving yards, and five touchdowns. That year he also ranked No. 4 in the MVFC in receptions per game with 5.2.
Thus far this season, Belquist is having his best year yet. He already leads the team in pass catching with 688 receiving yards, six touchdowns and 57 receptions, and that's before their showdown with NDSU to end the regular season.
Recently, Belquist put on a show in front of a whole bunch of family, friends and some of New Rockford-Sheyenne's current student athletes.
The large group of more than 50 traveled to Grand Forks to support Belquist for the Fighting Hawks' matchup against the University of South Dakota Coyotes.
In front of all that support from his family and the New Rockford community, Belquist had arguably his best game of the season, catching seven passes for 92 yards and two crucial touchdowns.
The Alerus Center in Grand Forks erupted when Belquist caught a touchdown pass with seconds left before halftime, giving UND their first lead of the game and momentum ahead of the second half. He also had his longest catch of the season, hauling in a deep ball down the left sideline for 47 yards.
With Belquist's help, the Fighting Hawks won that game 28-19, extending UND's win streak to three and boosting their overall record to 7-3.
There's no doubt that the University of North Dakota relies on Belquist as a key to their success, just as New Rockford-Sheyenne did not too long ago. Even now, the New Rockford community continues to support Belquist as he thrives on the football field and continues to give New Rockford-Sheyenne athletics a good name.
