The District 15 Republican Party has recently updated and adopted changes to their current bylaws with these changes taking effect immediately. The bylaws affect the way in which the District party conducts business and operates as a political party. Bylaws are enacted by a majority vote of the Executive Committee.
Going forward at Endorsing Conventions for selecting Legislative candidates and at Reorganizational meetings to elect the Executive Committee for the District, any person planning to vote at these meetings must be a dues-paying member of the District 15 Republican party and the NDGOP party 30 days in advance of the meetings. Endorsing Conventions for odd-numbered districts occur in midterm election years, while even-numbered districts hold their Endorsing Conventions in the years of Presidential elections. Reorganization meetings are held in the years when no elections are occurring.
The District 15 GOP will hold a membership drive and meeting coming up on December 3 at 11:30 a.m. at the Devils Lake Elks Club; 425 US Hwy 2; Devils Lake. A free chili feed will be provided. Anyone planning to vote in the 2023 Reorganizational meeting should plan to attend the meeting to pay their membership dues or they can also mail in their dues to the District 15 Republican Party; PO Box 42; Devils Lake, N.D. 58301-0042. District dues are $20 and State party dues are $50 for a total of $70 per year. Members can write one check and the state party dues will be forwarded to Bismarck.
Additional bylaws changes include a 14-day notice for anyone planning to run for an Executive Committee office and candidates for Legislative office going forward. Notice is to be given to the District Chairman, Vonda Markestad, by calling 701-230-9423. The 2023 Reorganizational meeting will be on January 14 with a time and location to be determined.
Officers of the District Executive Committee include District Chairman, 1st Vice-President, 2nd Vice- President, Secretary, Treasurer and no more than five At Large members. Incumbent Legislators are automatically seated on the Executive Committee.
NDGOP State Party Chairman, Perrie Schafer, will be in attendance along with Corby Kemmer, Executive Director. Both men will speak and will answer questions regarding the past General Election, plans and upcoming events in 2023 and the importance of membership in all levels of the party.
