Local giving during the holidays

‘Tis the season for giving! Here are five easy way to give locally this holiday:

1. Team Boyd - It’s the ninth year of Team Boyd, the annual fundraiser in memory of Boyd Xavier Warren, son of Jake and Sarah Warren who died shortly after birth. Transcript Publishing is proud to once again be the exclusive source for Team Boyd merch, and this year 30 percent of all sales will be split between the NR-S Second Gym Project and Matthew's Voice Project. A local committee has recently re-engaged to raise funds for the construction of a second gymnasium on the New Rockford-Sheyenne School campus. Matthew’s Voice Project is a nonprofit serving Fargo, West Fargo and Moorhead that provides basic needs to students experiencing homelessness.

Go to teamboyd2022.square.site to purchase Team Boyd gear. The deadline to order is December 1.

Or, use the “Donate” button on the website to make a direct donation. All donations will be split evenly between the two projects.

2. Shop with the Sheriff - Set for December 20 this year, this program fosters positive relationships between law enforcement and children ages 6-13 from all backgrounds. Pairs members of Eddy County Sheriff’s Office with youth participants to shop for holiday gifts for themselves and their families at local businesses. Donations can be sent to the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office, 524 Central Ave, New Rockford, ND 58356 or dropped off at the sheriff’s office inside the courthouse.

3. Share the Joy of Christmas - Pick up a gift tag off one of the trees at Central Pharmacy, Do It Best Hardware, First Lutheran Church, St John's Catholic Church or Community Credit Union. Buy a gift for a child in need or make a direct donation to the program so they can purchase gifts. Deadline for gifts and donations is December 2.

4. Hunger Free Food Pantry - Donate non-perishable food items, personal care items or make a direct donation to help fill baskets for families in need this holiday season. The Hunger Free Food Pantry is located in the basement of First Lutheran Church in New Rockford.

5. Short on cash? Donate your time. Volunteers are needed for the Santa Day event on Saturday, December 3. No experience is needed, Santa hats are provided and treats will be offered! The commitment is only a few hours, and you'll have an opportunity to make Christmas fun for as many as 200 kids. To volunteer contact Kelly at 947-2359 or Ardyce at 947-2084.
