Judith Ann Haas, age 73, of Rolla, N.D. passed away peacefully on Friday, November 25, 2022 at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, N.D.

Judith Ann Haas took her first breath and her last breath in New Rockford, N.D., born January 27, 1949 to Norman and Audrey (O'Hare) Braaten at City Hospital and began her heavenly journey at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd on November 25, 2022 with family members at her side. Judy graduated from Ulen Minn. High School in 1967 and furthered her education at Mayville State University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in English. Judy taught in several North Dakota schools including Minnewaukan, St. John, and Little Flower in Rugby. She also worked as a nurse aide at the Rolla Hospital. Judith was united in marriage to Duane "Chip" Haas in October of 1988 and they lived and ranched near St. John until Chip's passing in December of 2018. Judy was a member of the Art Council in Rolla, an avid reader, was a league bowler, and took an interest in the educational journeys of her nieces and nephews throughout the years. In her younger years, she corn de-tasseled in southern Minnesota, worked as a nanny in the Twin Cities and at the local drive-in theatre. Judy will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her family members and friends in the community.

Judith is survived by her siblings, Mary Jo McGuire (Don) of Dent, Minn.; Norman Braaten, Jr. (Sherry) of Minot, N.D.; Dr. Kristine Braaten of Rolla, N.D.; Dr. Jane Braaten of Bismarck, N.D.; Ed Braaten (Michelle) of Houston, Texas; and Andy Braaten (Ruthie) of Carrington, N.D.; nieces and nephews, Jody, Kristian, Kate, Beth, Noelle, Nikki, Brie, and Cole; and great nieces and nephews, Andrew, Sam, Mathilda, Greta, Jonah, and Paul.

Judith was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Casket Bearers were Kristian Overmoe, Larry Haas, Jim Haas, Jay Haas, Billy Mathiason, and Lars Mathiason. Music by Elizabeth Overmoe and Nikki Braaten.

A visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Rolla, N.D. with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was Friday, December 2, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Rolla, N.D. with Father Jared Kadlec presiding. Burial will take place at Mill Lake Cemetery, St. John, N.D. in the spring.
