On Saturday, Feb. 25, the New Rockford Park District hosted its first annual "A Night with the Princesses" daddy-daughter dance at the Brown Memorial in downtown New Rockford. A total of 39 couples and 44 princesses attended the event, dressed in their very best. A red and pink princess-themed balloon arch created by Brenda Bachmeier of Pink Pistil Flower Boutique made the perfect backdrop for the evening's festivities, and attendees could also purchase corsages designed by Bachmeier. A meal was served by the New Rockford Eagles Club. After supper, the attendees danced and were given the opportunity to take pictures in the photo booth from KayElla Photography. At 8 p.m., community members were invited to come and watch the grand march and the final few dances.
On Sunday, Feb. 26, the 4th Corporation Self Advocacy Snowball Dance was held, also at the Brown Memorial. Decorations from the night before, plus the corsages and photo booth, were left for the attendees of the dance to utilize. Individuals from 4th Corporation in New Rockford, Hav-It in Harvey and Lake Region Corporation in Devils Lake all attended the dance. NR-S alum Nick Hovey volunteered his time to DJ the dance.
"Everyone wants it to become an annual event!" 4th Corporation Program Coordinator Rachel Holzwarth said Monday.
