Opportunities for work and play with park district still open for summer

With spring weather having finally stumbled its way into North Dakota, the New Rockford Park District has been hard at work preparing for this summer’s activities.

In celebration of their 100th anniversary, the Park District held a celebration and summer activities sign-up on April 30, but Dennis Nybo, Park District director, said there are still plenty of openings for those interested.

In particular, Nybo said they’re searching for a Cal Ripkin coach for 12U baseball, as well as pool cashiers/concession workers and lifeguards.

Concession workers must be 14 years old or older, while lifeguards must be 15 years of age or older. Also, lifeguard training is in New Rockford this year and is reimbursed by the park district.

Applications are available at City Hall in New Rockford, as well as on the city’s website: cityofnewrockford.com.

Meanwhile, Nybo said registrations are still open for those interested in summer activities, such as baseball and softball.

This summer’s ball sports, which include Babe Ruth, Cal Ripken, Pee Wee, coach pitch, t-ball and girls’ softball, are set to begin the week of June 1.

Nybo also mentioned swim lessons and open swimming.

He noted that swim lessons for levels 1, 2 and 3 in session 1; as well as levels 2 and 3 in session 2, are all booked. Those interested are encouraged to sign up for the remaining sessions soon to ensure a spot.

Just like the job applications, registration forms will be available at New Rockford City Hall or on the city’s website.

Lastly, Nybo noted that the pool is currently on course to open in early June, or maybe earlier if all goes well.
