NR-S golf returns to greens

With spring weather also comes high school golf, and the Rockets' golf team opened their season with meets at Detroit Lakes, Minn. and Oxbow, N.D.

On the team this year are Jackson Schumacher, Shaun Reimche, Dashyl Bichler, Ashton Reimche, Kage Walford and Jacob Louters.

The team's first outing was at the Lakeview Golf Course in Detroit Lakes on May 2, where NR-S freshman Jackson Schumacher impressed with a score of 73, just nine points over par. Out of 58 golfers in attendance from 10 different teams, Schumacher placed 5th overall.

Second best on the team was Shaun Reimche, who scored an 85, followed closely by Bichler and Ashton Reimche, who scored 87 and 89, respectively.

As a team, the Rockets earned a respectable 5th place out of 10 teams with a total score of 334. Central Cass took first place.

At the team's second outing on May 8, at the Oxbow Country Club, Schumacher again led the way.

Schumacher placed 13th out of 58 golfers with a score of 87, while Ashton Reimche was second on the team with a score of 99, good enough to place 33rd. Par for the Oxbow Country Club was 72.

The Rockets took 7th place of the 10 teams in attendance at Oxbow, with an overall score of 393. Oak Grove took first place with a score of 330.

Looking forward, the NR-S golf team will be at the Maple River Golf Course in Mapleton on May 16, and at the CrossRoads Golf Club in Carrington on May 17. Both events are Region 2 individual qualifiers.

The Region 2 team qualifier will also take place at the CrossRoads Golf Club on May 31, but not before a meet on May 24 at the Cottonwood Golf Club in Casselton.
