Official Newspaper of Eddy County since 1883
This week is National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, and we would like to show appreciation to our dedicated, hard-working emergency medical caregivers. We appreciate the sacrifices of their personal and family time to help someone in their time of need. Their efforts “preserve life, prevent suffering and promote health,” advancing the quality and accessibility of emergency medical care.
Readers, if you have ever thought about becoming a first responder, now is a great time. CASNR is looking for volunteers. If you have interest, please reach out to Angie Hopfauf by stopping by the ambulance hall, calling 701-947-2355 or emailing [email protected].
Grant funds used to improve care
In April CASNR received a grant from the Meadows Memorial Fund at CHI St. Alexius Health Carrington for $882.91 to purchase AED supplies used in the community and new cot wraps used to cover patients during the winter.
In April CASNR was awarded a $500 grant from NDTC Dollars in Motion to purchase an intraosseous infusion trainer and drill.
Recently they were notified that they will receive a $1,061.60 grant from the New Rockford Community Foundation for special needs alerts. During a recent EMS training, members had a discussion about special needs individuals of all ages and how it would be nice to be aware of their needs in an situation where emergency medical services, law enforcement or the fire department are responding. These alerts would be especially helpful when someone is unable to tell first responders about their special need or the special needs of a passenger, including a child. CASNR plans to order these alerts to have on hand and distribute them during Lifesavers in the Park and during Giving Hearts Day.
