Sheyenne News: June 12, 2023

On May 28, Patti Clifton attended the graduation open houses for Madi Myhre at her rural Sheyenne home, and for Dawson Clifton in New Rockford.

Last Thursday, Jeff and Denise Labrensz traveled to Fargo for a medical appointment. During their shopping stops, they saw and visited with Lexi (Lies) and Jake Kenney and Conley, Shawna (Nelson) Huseth and Don and Peggy Lindstrom. It was nice to see and visit with these past Sheyenne/New Rockford residents. On the return home, they stopped in Jamestown for a Walmart stop. As they were in the checkout line, message came across the intercom that there was an active fire and everyone was to exit the building. All employees and customers were in the parking lot for about 15 minutes before they were allowed back in the store. No fire trucks came, so assumed there was no actual fire.

Wednesday morning, Rance, Jena and Rowan Brown from Sun Prairie, Wisc., came to Sheyenne for a few days’ visit at the home of Patti Clifton and Jared. Lots of visiting, playing with Rowan, watching Rowan in the little pool on the patio, a drive around the area and a stop one evening for an ice cream treat. Rance also tried a little fishing at Warsing Dam, but no luck! The Browns headed home to Sun Prairie on Saturday

Saturday afternoon, Jan Loe and Patti Clifton attended the 60th wedding anniversary celebration for Kenneth and Eloise Ploium at Grace Lutheran Church in Sheyenne. The event was hosted by the Ploium's children.

Sunday, Denise Labrensz went with Allison Pfeiffer and boys to the LegenDairy open house at VanBedaf Dairy in rural Carrington. They enjoyed lunch, a tour of the dairy and an upclose view and touch of a few calves.

Sunday afternoon, Patti Clifton rode along to Oberon with Deanna Erickson from New Rockford and Christie Buckmeier from Minnesota. (The ladies went to school together at Sheyenne). They went to the Oberon Cemetery and viewed several of Christie's family gravesites. From there, they tooled around Oberon and stopped to visit with Punky Olson, Scott Soggie and Craig Poulsen, and later, made a quick stop to say hello to Eloise Ploium. It was a fun afternoon of visiting!

Visit the Log Cabin Museum on Main Street in Sheyenne (next to Ostby Hall). The museum will be open on Sundays, 1:30-4:30 p.m., for the summer. To make an appointment for other times during the week, call Richard Thueson, Sr., at 996-2551 or 947-2774 to schedule a visit.
