From Schroeder's music and Linus' blanket to the Red Baron and the kite-eating tree, this summer DPRCA brings to life the beloved comic strip that transcends generations.
"You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" opens Wednesday, July 12 at the Old Church Theatre.
Bring grandma and the grandgirls to this family-friendly show. First staged more than 50 years ago in 1967, "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" has something patrons of all ages will enjoy.
Based on Charles Schulz's famous comic strip, this show features Charlie Brown and the entire "Peanuts" bunch. They explore life's great questions as they play baseball, struggle with homework, sing songs, swoon over their crushes and celebrate the joy of friendship.
Among the six-member cast are two new faces who happen to be starring as Charlie Brown and Linus. Florida native Hunter Quinn plays Charlie Brown and Western Illinois University theatre student JoshuaDerrick Kenebrew portrays Linus.
Local favorite Jared Hartl returns to the DPRCA stage after a four-year hiatus. Hartl will bang on the keys as Schroeder.
"He's been with us since he was in OHYA (theatre camp), when he was the Hunchback all those years ago," recalled Assistant Managing Director Erin Greiner.
And, in a comic twist, It appears they've put the director in the doghouse! DPRCA Artistic Director Elliott Schwab will embrace his inner canine as Snoopy.
Patrons of "Little Shop of Horrors" last summer will likely recognize the actresses in the two female roles. Ann Marie Garcia returns as Lucy and Hannah Guilinger plays Sally.
And listen up folks, because you'll wanna hear this. The Bistro is back for summer, with the full menu available each night. The dining room in the basement of the Old Church Theatre opens two hours prior to show time. Call to reserve your table!
"You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" runs Wednesday to Sunday from July 12 to August 6 at the Old Church Theatre in downtown New Rockford. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. weeknights and 2:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
