Shirley JoAnn Tchorzewski, 77, of Lackawanna, N.Y. passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at her home surrounded family and under the care of hospice.
Shirley was born to Clarence and Olga (Gedrose) Sielig on August 6, 1946, in New Rockford, N.D. She spent most of her young life attending school on Army bases until her dad retired. The family returned to New Rockford, N.D. in 1962. She attended New Rockford High School and graduated in 1964.
Shirley worked at various cafes in New Rockford after high school. She married Larry Jensen in 1965 in New Rockford N.D. and they later divorced. They had three children, Edward, Bonnie and Gerald.
In 1971 she met her beloved "Ski" through a mutual friend. She married Theodor E. Tchorzewski (Ski) on December 31, 1971, at First Lutheran Church in New Rockford, N.D. Shirley and her three children, Eddie, Bonnie and Gerry, moved to Lackawanna, N.Y. where Ski was employed by Ford Motor Company.
For many years Shirley and her three children would spend time during the summer in New Rockford with her parents, relatives and friends.
Shirley loved spending time with family and supporting them in their activities through the years. She was known to many in Lackawanna as "Momma Jensen."
Shirley was an avid sports fan, especially of the Buffalo Bills. She was in a bowling league for many years, enjoyed bingo, reading and crafts.
Shirley is survived by her three beloved children, Edward (Denise) Jensen, Bonnie Rogers, Gerry (Melissa) Jensen; her grandchildren, Matthew, Gracie, Theodore, Samantha, Dylan (Kayla), Erik and Alexa; her great-grandchildren, Addison and Blakelyn; an aunt, Vivian Rimmereid, and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, aunts Tillie Collier, Gerda Backman, Julia Gross, and uncles Emil Gedrose and John T. Gedrose.
Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Colonial Memorial Chapels in Lackawanna, N.Y. The burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lackawanna, N.Y.
