A man has been charged with several felonies after a confrontation began at Buck-It’s Bar in New Rockford and ended in a police chase through town.
Brandon Zickefoose, 27, of Burgettstown, Pa. is charged with aggravated assault with a weapon and fleeing a peace officer, both Class C felonies, as well as actual physical control – intoxicating liquor and driving under suspension, both Class B misdemeanors.
According to court documents, the incident began on Saturday, Nov. 4, when Zickefoose confronted and began arguing with several ex-employees – including his former supervisor, Andrew Cramer – at Buck-It’s Bar, having been fired earlier that day.
“Due to the Defendant’s behavior and intoxication, Supervisor Cramer suggested all the employees leave,” states court documents, which go on to say a few of employees gathered at another’s house. The homeowner is identified as “B.C.G.” in court documents.
“A short time after arriving, the Defendant pulled up in his truck and began yelling about talking to his former supervisor, who wasn’t there,” states court documents. “Annoyed by his behavior, the group told the Defendant to leave B.C.G’s home.”
Allegedly, as B.C.G. was walking back into her home, Zickefoose threw a glass beer bottle from his truck that hit B.C.G. in the head, causing a gash on her scalp approximately ½” long.
Court documents say a 9-1-1 call was placed immediately afterwards, and that Deputy Brown of the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, at which point Zickefoose allegedly fled in his Ford truck.
“The Deputy’s lights were activated as he pursued the Defendant from the 900 block of 1st Avenue North,” allege court documents.
“When driving on 13th Street North, the Defendant was fleeing at such speeds and in such an aggravated manner that the large, commercial welder in the back of his truck broke loose and flew into the road, causing damage to the street.”
The chase eventually came to a conclusion when Zickefoose stopped at the New Rockford Reservoir.
From there, court documents say officers observed clear signs of intoxication in Zickefoose, and eventually placed him under arrest and transported to the Lake Region Law Enforcement Center in Devils Lake, N.D.
Zickefoose waived his preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to all four charges on Wednesday, Nov. 8. He now has a pretrial conference scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 14 at 10:15 a.m. Zickefoose is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
The maximum penalty for each Class C felony is five years’ imprisonment, a fine of $10,000, or both. Each Class B misdemeanor carries a maximum penalty of 30 days’ imprisonment, and/or a fine of $1,500.
