Arlo "Bummy" Omoth, age 85, of New Rockford, N.D. died Friday, November 10, 2023, at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, N.D.

Arlo's visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023 from 4-7 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford. A funeral service was held Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, New Rockford with burial following at Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford. Pastor Amy Kippen officiated the service. Vocalists were Deborah Omoth and Karla Berglund, with pianist Kerstin Allmaras. Rhonda Stevenson gave the eulogy, and readers were Sarah Senger, Emily Senger, Erin Senger and Elisa Senger. Pallbearers were Anna Bleck, Mara Stevenson, Gretchen Anderson, Nicholas Berglund, Emily Senger, Erin Senger, Elisa (Lou Lou) Senger and Kinsley Hope Bleck. Honorary bearers were all of Arlo's family and friends.

Arlo was born January 3, 1938, at City Hospital in New Rockford, the son of Arnold and Dorothy (Casey) Omoth. He grew up in Tiffany Township in Eddy County with his younger sister Jeneen. He attended Tiffany No.1 through eighth grade. After grade school he stayed in New Rockford to attend high school, graduating from New Rockford Central High School in 1956. Arlo continued to farm with his dad after graduation. On April 7, 1967, he married Linda Lou Nielsen at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Oberon, N.D. They made their home on a farm east of New Rockford where they raised four girls, Rhonda, Deborah, Karla and Sarah.

Arlo loved to farm. He raised small grains along with cattle, pigs and chickens. He was a devoted father and grandfather who was better known as Grandpa Bummy. His family was his pride and joy. He liked reading and watching the news. He was a great observer of people and the weather (especially the weather during planting and harvest seasons). He was an avid sports fan; his favorites being football, baseball and boxing. But he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, sharing a cup of coffee and stories. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and an enthusiastic supporter of 4-H and his grandchildren's activities.

Arlo is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Stevenson, Sparks, Nev., Deborah Omoth, Eden Prairie, Minn., Karla Berglund, New Rockford, N.D. and Sarah (Robert) Senger, Rolla, N.D.; grandchildren Anna (Richard), Mara (Grant), Gretchen (Keegan), Nicholas (Kenzie), Emily, Erin and Elisa; and great-granddaughter Kinsley Hope; one sister Jeneen Loe, Washburn, N.D.; two sisters-in-law Shirley (Roger) Nelson, LaMoure, N.D., and Mary Kay Oppen, Rugby, N.D.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Linda; two sons-in-law, Steven Stevenson and Johnathan Berglund; and two brothers-in-law, David Loe and Richard Oppen.
