Shop with the Sheriff event set for Dec. 11

The Eddy County Sheriff's Office is at it again. On Monday, Dec. 11, deputies, highway patrol and other law enforcement officers from around the area will host the annual Shop with the Sheriff event. This program gives youngsters a unique local shopping experience and fosters positive relationships with law enforcement.

Any child ages 6-13 is welcome to participate in this fun holiday tradition. After signing up, participants will report to the Eddy County Courthouse at the designated time. From there, kids climb into the back of a squad car and proceed down Central Avenue with their lights and sirens blaring. Each officer will match up with two or three youth as they peruse the aisles of local stores with one key objective: buying holiday gifts.

To participate in this program, simply stop by the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office by Dec. 1 to sign a child up. It’s that easy!

Please consider donating to support this year's event. This year, there are three donation levels: gold, silver and bronze. Become a Gold member with a donation of $100 or more. Silver level is $50 to $99, and Bronze members $49 or less.
