Talk of the Town: Dec. 4, 2023

Janet Laube from Fargo's Edgewood Vista called Charlotte Koepplin to wish her a happy Thanksgiving and tell her about her day full of surprises. She enjoyed dinner with friends at the Vista; Then answered a knock on her door to find niece Robin Westal and other family with decorations, including a Christmas tree, lights and all. They decorated Janet's apartment for the holidays. Lo and behold there came another knock on the door. It was grandsons, Travis Laube and friend and Scott Laube, with more surprises and goodies. Scott brought the highlight of the day: A happy, healthy YipYip dog. Janet hadn't seen him since June when she moved to Edgewood Vista and YipYip went home with Scott. It was a happy reunion and when Scott was ready to leave, YipYip was ready to go home which brought a smile and a tear to Janet. Her boy is a happy, loved dog.

Thanksgiving found Ken and Marvis Holte enjoying a feast delivered by the Baptist Church in Carrington. Son Loren Holte of Bismarck came for a visit Saturday. He prepared a delicious roast beef supper Saturday and all enjoyed a visit later from Cody and Amanda Bickett and Izzy. Loren returned to his home Sunday.

Candy Jensen was among family that enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner at the Terry and Sandy Koepplin home. Susie Pahl of Jamestown called and wished her a happy turkey day.

Son Scott Lucht arrived at mom Eloise Lucht's on Wednesday. Wasn't long and they gathered up fixings and were on their way to Devils Lake where they enjoyed chicken wild rice soup and sloppy joes for supper and were overnight guests of Jay and Heidi Schneider, Caleb and Callie. Next morning, all pitched in and created a Thanksgiving dinner not to be forgotten. Scott and mom returned to New Rockford later Thursday. Friday was a day-after-turkey-day lazy day. Saturday, Scott did errands for mom. Sunday, they enjoyed a roast beef and sweet potato dinner. Monday, Scott left for South Dakota on the job. Scott is from Rochester, Minn.

Todd and Karen Koepplin were among family to enjoy a Thanksgiving Allmaras family gathering at the Frederick and Dianne Allmaras home.
