Brenda Bachmeier, owner of The Pink Pistil Flower Boutique, hosted a porch pot class at the Open Season Lodge in Sheyenne on Nov. 29. Fifty students filled the gymnasium with energy and evergreens. Open Season Lodge will keep the holiday enthusiasm going with a holiday vendor show Sunday, Dec. 10, with soup and sandwiches served from noon to 4 p.m. Area makers and businesses will be there including baked goods by Dianne Hanson, Darlene Kolstad and others. Those missing bingo goodies should make a point to come!
Patti Larson attended the Farmers Union breakfast meeting at Rockford Café Wednesday morning. Jerry Schuster, the Eddy County district chair, discussed preparations for the upcoming annual convention and the new summer camp near Jamestown.
Grandfield Lutheran Church hosted the first Advent service on Wednesday night, Nov. 29. Everyone enjoyed coffee and goodies after the service. First Lutheran Church in Sheyenne hosts Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m.
Continued dry and mild weather has made cattle work and bale hauling pleasant for area ranchers.
Sheyenne Community Quilters delivered eight completed quilts to Gail (Swenson) Weisenburger to be used between Eddy County Share the Joy and Aeon. Aeon is a Minneapolis non-profit that provides affordable housing to low income families. The local connection is that the late Lois Swenson led the quilters for many years and now her granddaughter, Tasha, graciously accepts the quilts to distribute on behalf of Aeon. For those interested in joining or learning to quilt, the quilters meets the first Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church. Contact Karen Birkeland for more information.
Patti Larson took in the Advent Tea in New Rockford on Sunday. This year, St. John’s Catholic Church hosted. Nothing like beautiful music, lovely table settings and delicious dessert, to prepare the way for Christmas.
On Saturday, Joanna Larson took in a Baltic Christmas market with classmate Maraike Buhlmann at the Maritime Museum in Stockholm. They also enjoyed window shopping in Gamla Stan in the snow.
Patti Clifton kept an appointment in New Rockford last Tuesday afternoon.
