Valentine's Day is a special time for sharing love. This year, St. John's Catholic Church and the New Rockford Eagles Club are teaming up to host a special Valentine's Day dinner to spread some love to youth who have experienced physical or emotional trauma.
The recipient of the proceeds, Home On The Range, is located in western North Dakota near Sentinel Butte. It is a therapeutic working ranch that provides education, therapy, spiritual guidance, and recreational and work activities to disadvantaged and troubled youth.
Started in 1950 as Home On The Range for Boys, the facility has grown in size and scope. In 1990, the program was expanded to also offer services to young teenage girls. It is one of the few facilities that specializes in treatment for trafficked and exploited youth.
Some of the therapeutic programs include self-defense, social emotional learning, trauma-informed yoga, relationship group, drug and alcohol counseling and animal-assisted therapy. Through counseling and therapeutic work with horses, these youth learn skills to cope with their trauma.
Join us Saturday, February 10, 2024, at St. John's Catholic Church fellowship hall for an elegant evening of food, friends and fun while raising funds to help youth in need. The menu includes grilled Prime Rib, breaded shrimp, garlic mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, mixed greens salad, and dessert. Wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages will be available. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the Social; supper to be served at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $50 per person, with all proceeds to be donated to Home On The Range. Contact Kathy O'Connor at (701) 302-0148 for tickets. Tables of eight can also be purchased to guarantee seating with friends.
Additional fundraising opportunities of silent auction items and lucky duck 50/50 drawings will be held during the evening. If anyone would like to donate a silent auction item or basket, contact Leann Schafer at (701) 302-0568.
Free daycare will be held on site in the basement with supper, a movie and games for children. Register your kids when you purchase your tickets.
