Second at Storhaug

The full Carrington wrestling program was on the mats for the two-day Nick Storhaug Invitational Tournament in Lisbon Friday-Saturday, Jan. 19-20.

The Cardinal girls' team crowned two champions on their side of the tournament, Khendra Garcia at 130 pounds and Ashley Lindberg at 250.

Meanwhile, the CHS boys had three runner-up finishers, with Skye Kramlich (107), Corbin Clifton (145) and Brody Weisenburger (285) doing the honors.

Both the boys and girls took fourth place in their respective tournaments. The boys' team finished behind champion Lisbon, Class A St. Mary's and Ellendale-Edgeley-Kulm, while the CHS girls looked up the standings at winners Central Cass, the combined Fargo Stingers squad and Jamestown.

Jazmyn Ybarra came in third for the girls at 124, followed by fourth place showings by Taya Lura (106), Kendall Kovar (130), and Madalina Ciubotareanu (136). Aysa Reimche was fifth at 106, and Nevaeh Sorensen sixth at 155.

Others to place at the meet for the boys were Callen Garber (4th, 189), Gabe Clifton (5th, 133), Dru Carr (6th, 121), Max Ciubotareanu (6th, 172), Kirby Freeman (6th, 215), Jacob Hinrichs (8th, 160), and Charles Jorgensen (8th, 215).

The Cards competed in their final regular season tournaments this past weekend, as the boys traveled to the East-West Tournament in New Salem and the girls were at the Belle of the Brawl in Casselton.

Carrington will be host to both the boys' and girls' East Region Wrestling Tournaments on February 9 (girls) and February 10 (boys).
