Daddy Daughter dance returns Feb. 24

On Saturday, Feb. 24, the New Rockford Park District will host the second ever Daddy-Daughter Dance in New Rockford.

Last year’s inaugural dance was a hit with dads and daughters throughout the community, so much so that the park district is bringing it back for a second time.

The event offers a wonderful chance for fathers to bond with their daughter while building memories that’ll last a lifetime.

Last year’s event was called “A Night with the Princesses,” and 39 couples with 44 princesses attended the dance.

This year, the theme is “Barbies and Bingo,” and organizers are hoping for similarly great attendance.

The event will be held at the Brown Memorial in New Rockford on Saturday, Feb. 24 from 5 - 7:30 p.m., and is open to girls from pre-K through 5th grade.

The girls must be accompanied by a meaningful male adult that’s 18 years of age or older, such as a father, older brother, grandfather or uncle.

When they aren’t grooving on the dance floor, the couples will have a number of activities to partake in.

For starters, as this year’s theme suggests, bingo will be played throughout the evening with a chance to win cool door prizes.

KayElla Photography will also have a photo booth at the event for those wanting their picture professionally taken, and the Pink Pistil Flower Boutique will be there to provide corsages.

Anyone interested in a corsage is encouraged to pre-order them by giving Brenda Bachmeier a call at (701) 302-0347.

Meanwhile, a delicious taco bar will be provided by the park district for no additional cost.

The evening’s main event will be a grand march to conclude the evening at 7:30 p.m., at which time the couples will be lined up and announced, similar to a grand march at prom.

Just before the march, at 7:20 p.m., the doors of the Brown Memorial will be opened to friends and family wanting to support their loved ones, so be sure to have those cameras at the ready, moms!

Registrations are required for those planning to attend, and the deadline for submitting registration forms is Friday, Feb. 16. Forms can be found at City Hall and online on the City of New Rockford’s website: http://www.cityofnewrockford.com.

The cost is $50 for each couple that plans to attend, plus an additional $20 per additional child. That’s right, adults are welcome to escort more than one to the dance! The event is limited to just 60 couples, however, so be sure to register while you can!
