Twelve super spellers at NR-S competed in the Eddy County Spelling Bee on Tuesday, Feb. 6. After a written test and three oral rounds of competition, Austin Weisenburger emerged as the Eddy County champion. Everett Wiedrich was named runner-up, and both will advance to the North Dakota State Spelling Bee on Monday, March 18 at the Bismarck Event Center.
Grade level champions, named based on their written test, were as follows:
• Grade 5: Ashtyn Lies
• Grade 6: Tyler Zieman
• Grade 7: Everett Wiedrich
• Grade 8: Sophie Skogen
Five students competed in the oral rounds: Ashtyn Lies, Austin Weisenburger, Everett Wiedrich, Beau Baumbach and Sophie Skogen.
