The New Rockford-Sheyenne girls' basketball season has come to an end.
The Rockets took on the St. John Lady Woodchucks in the quarterfinal round of the Region 2 Tournament on Monday, Feb. 19.
The Rockets started off strong, as the Lady Woodchucks came into foul trouble. In just the first quarter, the Rockets scored 21 points between Ava Peterson, Kaiya O'Connor, Emmie Belquist and Addysen Fandrich.
Kennley Davis led the Lady Woodchucks with 6-of-14 points scored in the first.
However, the Lady Woodchucks began their push in the second quarter by scoring 18 points to the Rockets' 10.
At the half, the Rockets were trailing 31-32.
As the second half started, the Lady Woodchucks were dominating. St. John senior Alani Morin scored 10 of the 18 points scored by the Lady Woodchucks.
The Rockets couldn't keep up. Just five points were scored between Peterson and Belquist for the Rockets in the third quarter.
St. John was eager for a win.
The Lady Woodchucks added 20 more points to their score in the fourth quarter to take down the Rockets 70-47.
Peterson was the only Rocket athlete to score in double digits with 24 points.
As for the Lady Woodchucks, Morin led with 24 followed by Davis with 20 and Kaycee Desjarlais with 10.
