Rocket archers made the trek to Oakes on Saturday, Feb. 24, where they faced stiff competition in bullseye and 3D.
Layton Jacobson landed at the top of the leaderboard in both. He was one point shy of his personal best in bullseye, but his 294 was still the top score of the tournament for the high school boys.
Bradyn Collier earned the bronze medal in the high school boys’ division of the 3D competition with a 281. He also earned a top 10 finish in bullseye, shooting a 282 and fourth place among high school boys.
Middle school archers Koy Zieman and Sawyer Huso had top 10 showings in both 3D and bullseye. Zieman finished fourth among middle school boys for 3D with a 276 and ended the day in fifth place in the bullseye tournament.
Huso, meanwhile, scored a 269 and landed in eighth place for 3D. In the bullseye competition he finished ninth place with a 275.
Two other Rocket archers had top 10 finishes in 3D: Eli Alfstad was in 10th place among high school boys with a 273 and Lydia Huso finished in seventh place among elementary girls with a 239.
In bullseye, Dylan Cudworth also scored a 239 and rounded out the top 10 among elementary girls.
Only two tournaments remain before state. This past Saturday, the team competed in the Barnes County North 3D and bullseye tournaments. On Saturday, March 9, they’ll travel to Rolla.
