Louters resigns from NR-S

New Rockford-Sheyenne Superintendent Jill Louters has tendered her resignation after 12 years with the district.

In a resignation letter addressed to NR-S School Board President Todd Allmaras, Louters said she would be resigning from her position as superintendent effective June 30, 2024.

"It has been a distinct honor to serve the students, staff and stakeholders of the district," writes Louters. "I have focused my work on enhancing opportunities to engage in personalized learning experiences in the classroom, through co and extracurricular activities and in the broader NR-S community.

"My hope for our students is that they feel fully prepared to successfully engage in post high school experiences that bring them joy and success."

Louters also writes that the performance of NR-S staff continues to be exceptional, and reflects on some of the highlights from her tenure, among which are the elementary school's Blue Ribbon Award, their Innovative District recognition, and the various investments made by private stakeholders and state and national organizations.

"I wish you well as you prepare for this transition," she concludes.

During a brief special meeting of the NR-S School Board on Friday morning, Board Member Mike Jacobson thanked Louters for her years of service to the district.

Louters' resignation was then unanimously accepted by the school board.

At the school board’s regular meeting on Monday, March 11, board members discussed the various processes for hiring a new superintendent. They ultimately decided to hold a special meeting as soon as possible to meet with a representative of the N.D. School Board Association and/or Dakota Leadership Solutions to determine a path forward.
