Regular season ends in Rolla

Rocket archers competed in their last regular season tournament on Saturday, March 16. Mt. Pleasant School in Rolla hosted 10 other schools, offering both bullseye and 3D competition.

Layton Jacobson shot bullseye bright and early Saturday morning and set the tone for the entire day. He shot a 293 and finished first among high school boys.

It was a sweep for the Rocket archers in the middle school boys’ division of bullseye. Sawyer Huso finished first with a 286, Braylon Alfstad earned the silver medal with a 279 and Koy Zieman rounded out the top three with a 278.

All in all, five middle school Rocket boys ended the day in the top 10 for bullseye. Tyler Zieman finished fifth with a 273 and Gabe Smith shot a 272 and came in seventh place.

Several others finished in the top 10 of their division in bullseye:

• Eli Alfstad 269, HSB 9th place

• Lora Wobbema 268, HSG 7th place

• Taylin Jacobson 259, MSG 9th place

• Dylan Cudworth 234, EG 8th place

• Alexa Allmaras 233, EG 9th place

• CJ Schmaltz 233, EB 4th place

• Trey Zieman 225, EB 7th place

Meanwhile, a trio of Rocket archers brought home medals in the 3D tournament. Braylon Alfstad led the Rockets with a 277 and earned second place among middle school boys. Teammate Koy Zieman was right behind with a 276 and third place.

Vinnie Ruppell earned his first medal of the season. He shot his personal best, a 272 in 3D, and took home third place among high school boys.

Eight more Rocket archers finished in the top 10 of their division in 3D:

• Lora Wobbema 266, HSG 5th place

• Ayden Gable 264, MSB 5th place

• Sawyer Huso 260, MSB 7th place

• Chaztin Wobbema 260, HSB 8th place

• Eli Alfstad 255, HSB 10th place

• Lydia Huso 240, EG 4th place

• CJ Schmaltz 226, EB 4th place

• Kierra Scevers 222, EG 10th place
