A jury trial in Eddy County is only a few weeks away.
The trial, if it comes to fruition, will be for Loren Anderson, who faces several charges following a domestic dispute last September.
Court documents accuse Anderson of purposefully chasing down and crashing head-on into his girlfriend’s vehicle just north of New Rockford on Highway 281.
Anderson was charged with reckless endangerment and terrorizing, both Class C felonies, as well as domestic violence and aggravated reckless driving, both Class A misdemeanors.
Anderson pleaded not guilty to all charges, and his jury trial has been scheduled for Thursday, May 16 at 9:30 a.m. in the Eddy County Courthouse.
Meanwhile, two individuals in Carrington have been charged with terrorizing after making threats to law enforcement officers.
One of them, Heather Auborn, also allegedly threatened to start a “riot” in the city of Carrington.
On Friday, April 24, Auborn allegedly placed a call to a Carrington police officer, during which court documents say she threatened Carrington’s Police Chief, Christopher Bittmann, and his family several times.
Bittmann and the officer who received the call happened to be next to each other when Auborn called. The officer also turned on his body camera and placed the phone on speaker.
Court documents say that Auburn’s statements, which were recorded by the body camera, were threatening enough to warrant a felony terrorizing charge.
Auborn allegedly threatened not only Bittmann but also the entire Carrington Police Department.
Court documents quote her as saying, “If my mother and brother have to come here, y’all going to have a bad, and I mean all y’all at the whole police department will have a bad day. Cuz they’re coming by the ten n*****s deep, and that’s the last thing y’all want, cuz we are going to riot the city of Carrington.”
Auborn went on to threaten Bittmann’s family and mentioned that their kids go to the same daycare.
When asked why she was targeting Bittmann with her remarks, she reportedly told the officer that he harasses her and tries to come up with any reason to arrest her.
But if they didn’t have reason to arrest her before, Carrington P.D. clearly thought they did after that call, as Auborn was soon charged with terrorizing, a Class C felony.
Auborn’s preliminary hearing has been scheduled for June 11 at 11:30 a.m. She is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
Meanwhile, another individual, Katina Abell, was arrested and charged with terrorizing after threatening a Carrington police officer the day prior.
On April 23, Abell was allegedly stuck in a ditch near Dakota Growers Pasta Company when law enforcement arrived, and was observed as being intoxicated with slurred speech and poor balance.
She was reportedly non-compliant and combative throughout the encounter, and court documents say she repeatedly threatened the arresting officer with violence.
She was ultimately charged with actual physical control –intoxicating liquor and refusal to submit to a chemical test, both Class B misdemeanors; physical obstruction of a government function; a Class A misdemeanor, and terrorizing, a Class C felony.
Abell has pleaded not guilty to the three misdemeanors, and has been scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 11 at 11 a.m.
She is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
