Kent and Shelley Rigsby of Jamestown visited at the Peter and Patti Larson home last Monday. Patti and her sister worked on planning the August Sidewalk Market and city-wide rummage sales. Appropriate for Earth Day, the Rigsbys took a load of recycling back to the Jamestown facility.
The NR-S school board met last Tuesday morning to review superintendent applicants. Kyle Alfstad and Patti Larson were among the six board members attending who agreed to hire an interim superintendent for the upcoming school term. Reopening the search this winter will hopefully result in a larger pool of candidates.
On Tuesday morning, April 16, Jan Loe attended the funeral service for Ardy (Treon) Salisbury at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Devils Lake.
Chandy Howard Bennett and daughters, Sage and Scottie, and Peter, Patti and Joanna Larson were among the well-wishers at NDSU Family and Community Wellness Extension Agent Donna Anderson's retirement party last Wednesday afternoon at the 4-H/extension office in New Rockford.

Mauritz Carlson was guest speaker at the Region 3 Arts Across the Prairie zoom meeting last Wednesday. There have been monthly meetings since last fall with the stakeholders of Region 3, which includes Benson, Eddy, Ramsey, Cavalier, Towner and Rolette counties. A statewide public art installation coordinated by the N.D. Council of the Arts is planned to create eight large-scale public art works, one for each of the eight regions across the state. Mauritz outlined the cultural and socio-economic history of the Benson and Eddy County area around Sheyenne; this information will help in the selection of the artist and location of the works.
Curtis Larson recently stopped at a few places in Sheyenne selling tickets for the 4th Corporation's calendar raffle.
Joanna Larson and Michelle Gilley, Eddy County NDSU Extension Agent, met with NR-S School head cook Brittani Rosenberg and kitchen staff, Alissa Bachmeier and Sheila Brown, along with Katrina Hanenberg, local food marketing specialist from N.D. Department of Agriculture, and Amanda Olson, farm-to-school specialist from the N.D. Department of Public Instruction. They talked about expanding the farm-to-school program and how more locally-produced food could be utilized in the NR-S school lunch program.
The tornado alert siren was tested in Sheyenne last week and proved to be loud and clear. It got the attention of the yearling heifers on the L-B Ranch and they all calmly lined up at the gate looking toward the house for further instructions!
Ian Gilley celebrated his birthday early and the Peter Larson family enjoyed Sunday brunch at the Gilley home.
Jan Loe attended the VFW Auxiliary District Meeting in Devils Lake.
Three members of the Sheyenne Park Board met Sunday evening. Dianne Hanson, Dave Chenze Jr. and Tara Hanson, along with grant contact person Patti Larson started the meeting at Ostby Hall with Dick Evenson sharing what could be done to get water back to the south part of Hendrickson Park. The park board then went out to the park to determine which 20 hazardous trees would be prioritized for removal. It was decided that the replacement planting locations will be marked after the removal has taken place. The crew will begin working this weekend.
The blackout went out at bingo on Saturday night, April 27. Dianne Hanson called the winning number, Patti Larson and Bob Hanson worked card sales, along with Darlene Kolstad who served lunch. May 4, Sheyenne GRIT will host bingo with a $175 blackout.
