Athletic and academic accomplishments were on display during NR-S Rockets Awards Night on Friday, May 10.
The coaches and advisors for the various sports and activities recognized their athletes and participants and handed out awards to the top achievers in grades 6-12.
The night featured the seniors of NR-S, with the annual senior supper at Old Church Theatre held prior.
Special awards were given to the seniors:
• Musicians Claire Becker and Kate Allmaras received the John Phillip Sousa Award, which is given to students with exemplary talents in instrumental music.
• Keaton Cudworth swept the senior academic awards. He was named to the silver Academic All-State Team. He also earned the Constitution Award, which is given to the student with the best understanding of the U.S. Constitution. Cudworth was also the only senior who received the prestigious Presidential Award for Academic Excellence, which is earned by scoring at least a 25 on the ACT test and maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher throughout high school.
• Connor Knatterud and Kelsie Belquist received the Outstanding Male and Female Senior Athlete awards at the May 10 awards ceremony.
The NR-S Music Boosters handed out $500 scholarships to four senior music students – Kate Allmaras, Claire Becker, Lucy Meier, and Trysta Thumb.
New Rockford Dollars for Scholars announced $22,150 in scholarships to nine senior applicants. The full list is printed at right.
