NR-S golfers compete in Fargo, Mapleton

The NR-S varsity golf team were back on the greens this past week, as they look to qualify for the state tournament on June 4.

On Monday, May 13, three Rocket golfers traveled to the Fargo Country Club.

Jackson Schumacher finished best among the Rockets in Fargo with a score of 84, having scored 46 in the front nine and an impressive 38 on the back.

Shaun Reimche wasn’t far behind with a score of 88, and Kage Walford managed a 94.

Reimche’s score of 88 is his best result over 18 holes so far this season.

Just one day later, the team was joined by Keaton Cudworth and Easton Simon as they traveled to Mapleton on Tuesday, May 14.

Schumacher again finished highest among his team with a score of 85, while Keaton Cudworth followed closely behind with an 86.

Walford wasn’t far behind either, as he scored an 87, one better than his previous lowest score this season.

Reimche, meanwhile, scored a 95 and Simon ended his 18 holes with a score of 103. Combined, the Rockets earned a team score of 353.

The score for an individual to qualify for the state tournament is 79, so none of the Rocket golfers have managed to qualify just yet.

Schumacher came the closest with an 80 at Rose Creek, and there will be another opportunity coming up at their next meet in Carrington on Wednesday, May 22.

After that it’s the region tournament on May 28, which is also in Carrington.
