Schumacher to tee off at state golf

Jackson Schumacher is going back to state.

At the Region 2 qualifier in Carrington on Wednesday, May 23, NR-S sophomore Jackson Schumacher had his best meet of the season, and it couldn't have come at a more perfect time.

To qualify for the state tournament, golfers need to score a 79 or better in 18 holes.

Schumacher had come oh-so close earlier in the season when he scored 80 at Rose Creek on Wednesday, May 8.

In Carrington, however, Schumacher wasn't interested in making it close.

Instead of going just one better, he finished his 18 holes with a score of 76, good enough to secure 6th place individually at the meet, and of course more than enough to qualify for the Class B state golf meet.

And luckily enough, Schumacher won't be traveling far for the state meet, which this year is being held at the CrossRoads Golf Club in Carrington, where he happens to play some of his best golf.

The state meet will take place from Tuesday, June 4 through Wednesday, June 5.
