Lions donate to Sheyenne Rodeo Club

NDRA Rodeo set for June 30 in Hendrickson Park

The local Lions Club has made another important contribution to their community.

Recently, they donated $5,000 to the Sheyenne Rodeo Club, a group which helps organize rodeo events in Sheyenne every year.

With the Lions' generous contribution, the rodeo club will be able to continue bringing exciting events to the area, such as the upcoming NDRA rodeo later this month.

On Sunday, June 30, the Sheyenne NDRA Rodeo will return to Hendrickson Park just west of Sheyenne, bringing dozens of cowboys and cowgirls from throughout the country back to Eddy County.

Last year's event was a big success, and the event's organizers are anticipating another great show this year.

Sanctioned by the North Dakota Rodeo Association, the rodeo will feature all the classic events you'd expect from a professional rodeo, and thousands of dollars in prize money will be up for grabs.

Those in attendance will get to see fan-favorite events such as saddle bronc, bareback and bull riding, as well as tie-down roping, steer roping, barrel racing and more.

This year, the top saddle-bronc rider will also be awarded a Henry 30/30 lever action tribute rifle, presented by the Wetzel family.

The slack events will kick off at 9 a.m., ahead of the rodeo which gets underway at 1 p.m.

Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for children age 6 and up, and free for children age 5 and under.

Looking a little further ahead, rodeo fans can also look forward to the fourth annual Sheyenne Stampede, which is in the works for Saturday, August 17.

As usual, this year's Stampede will feature barrel racing at 1 p.m. and a ranch rodeo at 5 p.m., followed by a fun night of music and entertainment.

Headlining the event this year will be the Eli Young Band, with special guest Jason Cross.

A link to purchase tickets to the Stampede is available on the "Sheyenne Stampede" Facebook page. General admission tickets purchased in advance are $40; the price increases to $50 at the gate. Kids 12 and under can attend for free.
