Come spend Independence Day in Eddy County!

It's almost Independence Day, and here in Eddy County, that means an exciting week of fun activities.

For many, the fun started on Sunday, June 30 with the annual Sheyenne Stampede NDRA Rodeo at Hendrickson Park in Sheyenne, and will continue with a street dance at Buck-It's Bar on Wednesday, July 3, featuring "Kissing Company," and Buck-It's will continue the celebrations with a Bloody Mary Bar beginning at 9 a.m. the next morning.

Flair Boutique & Coffee Shop will also be open at 9 a.m. on Independence Day, just ahead of the annual New Rockford Parade, which is scheduled to start at 10 a.m., and the Sheyenne Parade which will get underway at 11:30 a.m.

Stay in Sheyenne after the parade for the Open Pit BBQ at Ostby Hall, and then be sure to enjoy some pool games at the New Rockford Swimming Pool beginning at 12:30 and ending at 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, at 1 p.m. a Cornhole Tournament is being hosted at Hanson's Bar in New Rockford with $500 in prize money added by the New Rockford Area Chamber of Commerce. After the tournament, the Stick Ponies will perform in the Hanson's Bar beer garden. The day's activities are open to all ages, with a kid zone set up for the youth to play cornhole while the adults compete.

And then, at 2 p.m., head over to the autocross track just south of New Rockford for an exciting afternoon of autocross action. And with a $3,500 purse up for grabs, there's sure to be plenty of hard racing and exciting finishes.

Admission for Autocross on Dirt is $15 for adults and $12 for ages 13-18. Any children 12 and under can get in for free, and food will be available at the track.

Meanwhile, over in Sheyenne, both the Log Cabin Museum and Sheyenne Senior Center will be open from 2-4 p.m.

Back at the pool in New Rockford, the annual Lions Club Lucky Duck Race will begin at 5:30 p.m.

At dusk, it's time for the main event. Thousands of dollars were donated towards this year's fireworks display in New Rockford. Be sure to head over to Archie and Jesse Campbell Memorial Park with the whole family to enjoy the show.

The activities don't end there, however. On Friday, July 5, the Transcript is once again hosting the annual Freedom 5K/10K, which this year comes with an additional 10K option for the more ambitious runners.

The event gets started at 8 a.m. on Central Avenue outside the Transcript office, with day-of registration starting at 7 a.m.

A little later in the day, the Independence Day activities come to a close with the Big Cup Golf Tournament at 11 a.m. Registration opens at 10 a.m.
