The Best Decorated award in the Sheyenne Parade went to the Minnewaukan Girl Scouts.
The Ystaas family held their family reunion over the Fourth of July. The family put together a float for the Sheyenne parade. Here, Koraline Haugland (left) and Evelyn Ystaas (right) holding Logan Ystaas were three of the many Ystaas relatives aboard the float.
Donna Grann of Sheyenne, N.D. was one of the few locals to compete in the Sheyenne Stampede NDRA Rodeo on Sunday, June 30. She and her daughter, Lacey, both competed in the ladies barrel racing. Nicole Edland of Glenfield, N.D. was a top placer in this event, taking second place overall with a time of 16.177 seconds.
The Sheyenne parade had many different parade floats this year – with nearly 40 entries. Entering in the parade also meant your float would be judged in these categories – Most Entertaining, Best Decorated, Most Original, Best Antique Auto, Best Horse and Best Tractor.
The Sheyenne Community Band float earned Most Entertaining. The Most Original float was Joanna Larson and her heifer, Tea Cup, supporting her run for Eddy County Commissioner. Gavin Brown's antique dino fuel vehicle was voted the Best Antique Auto. The Eddy County 4-H group, put together by Brent and Jenna Helseth, was awarded Best Horse. The Best Tractor award went to the Norris and Lorraine Ystaas family.
