Post 30 stuns Red Sox in Langdon

On Wednesday, July 3, the Post 30 Black Sox ended a two-game losing skid in the most emphatic way possible.

Playing against the Langdon Red Sox in Langdon, Post 30 were looking to get back in the win column and develop some momentum as the postseason approaches.

But as Wednesday's game got underway, the Black Sox certainly didn't do themselves many favors.

With Keaton Cudworth on the mound, the Red Sox were able to score a run in each of the first two innings courtesy of an RBI single and a fielder's choice.

They then scored again in the bottom of the fourth inning on an RBI double, and just like Post 30, found themselves down 0-3 and potentially facing another loss.

However, that's precisely when their fortunes began to turn around.

For the rest of the game, Cudworth wouldn't allow another runner across home plate. Meanwhile, the Sox' offense finally got on the board.

In the top of the fifth inning, Thomas Allmaras lined an RBI single into center field, scoring Luke Yri who had just reached base with a double into right field.

They weren't able to score again in that frame nor in the top of the sixth, leaving them just one last opportunity in the top of the seventh inning to turn things around.

The frame started with a walk issued to Cudworth and a single from Luke Yri, putting two runners on with no outs. And capitalizing with clutch hitting yet again was Allmaras, as his RBI double in the seventh sent Cudworth across home plate.

Yri soon followed suit courtesy of an RBI single from Easton Simon to tie the game at 3-3.

And then it was Allmaras' turn to come home, as Skye Kramlich stepped to the plate and delivered the go-ahead RBI single to left field.

Now up a run, Cudworth just needed three more outs to escape Langdon with a victory, and with the help of his deadly pick-off play to first base, that's exactly what he got.

The 4-3 victory brought their overall record to 4-4 in the regular season, as a heavy slate of games lay dead ahead.
