Rib Cookoff at Eagles set for Aug. 10

Save this date – Saturday, August 10 – for a fun afternoon in New Rockford. The New Rockford Eagles Club is hosting its first-ever Rib Cookoff.

Registration is now open for teams who want to show off their smoking and grilling skills. The entry fee is $100 for a team of up to four people. The entry fee includes 10 racks of ribs per team provided by the Eagles Club. All other supplies are the responsibility of the team members.

The club will open at noon, and tasters of all ages are welcome. Teams will be cooking and selling ribs and other food items throughout the afternoon, and attendees will get to vote for their favorite ribs!

There will also be a panel of five mystery judges. Each team must turn in two connected bones per judge, for a total of 10, at 5 p.m. for judging.

Cash prizes will be awarded for both People's Choice and Judge's Choice, with winners to be announced around 6 p.m.

Call Brett Ehni at (701) 650-7308 to enter your team by August 5. Registration, payment and rib pickup begins at 8 a.m. on the day of the event.

The event is co-sponsored by the New Rockford Area Chamber of Commerce. Watch this newspaper for more details and additional family fun activities in the works for that day.
