In addition to many other improvements in the works and new events planned during the annual reunion in New Rockford this September, the Central North Dakota Steam Threshers has invested funding and volunteer labor to improve both the indoor and outdoor sound systems at the showgrounds.
The organization has spent several thousand dollars adding additional large outdoor speakers and repairing broken underground wiring across the grounds, and has also purchased new wireless microphones with improved coverage.
The sound system is used during the reunion for broadcasting daily activities, announcement of the afternoon parade and for musical entertainment in the Potter Pavilion all three days. The system was tested this past weekend and could be heard beyond the showgrounds to the southwest edge of New Rockford. One show organizer commented recently "pretty sure we could reach halfway to Sheyenne with the new system with the perfect weather conditions!"
Several donations have been received over the years for improvements to the annual reunion, such as upgrades to the sound system. The organization is most appreciative of the support from the New Rockford community and across the region.
This year's 66th reunion will be September 20, 21 and 22, featuring the Great Minneapolis Line and Massey Harris steam engines, tractors and other agricultural antique farming equipment.
