Lifesavers in the Park Tuesday

It's almost time for folks in New Rockford and the surrounding area to gather with their local heroes at New Rockford's Centennial Park.

Lifesavers in the Park, organized by the Community Ambulance Service of New Rockford (CASNR), runs from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, and will feature all kinds of fun activities for the whole community.

Sanford Airmed helicopter will be on site at 7:45 p.m. (pending call priorities and weather), allowing community members to see inside an air ambulance, which is used for transferring critical care patients to larger facilities.

Tours of New Rockford's ambulances will also be given by CASNR members, in addition to various equipment demonstrations and hands-on CPR training. And as per usual numerous health organizations will have informational booths, where attendees can ask questions about their services.

Meanwhile, games and bouncy houses will be available for the kids, and who can forget the dunking booth!

Sacrificing themselves to help raise money at this year's dunking booth throughout the evening will be NR-S teacher Brady Eichelberger at 6 p.m., Deputy Jesse Anderson at 6:30 p.m., Coach Craig Demester at 7 p.m., and Deputy Mike Brown at 7:30 p.m.

And of course, a delicious meal of burgers, hotdogs and brats will be served throughout the event beginning at 6 p.m., with a free will donation taken.

The Community Ambulance Service of New Rockford is always looking for volunteers, including anyone who can be a driver, an EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) or an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician). CASNR would provide all the training and cover related costs for someone willing to volunteer.

Anyone interested in volunteering should give Angie Hopfauf a call at (701) 307-0271, or email [email protected].
