Midwest Cover Crops Council event on Aug. 27 at Carrington REC

The Midwest Cover Crop Council, North Dakota State University, and North Dakota’s U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA-NRCS) are joining forces to provide a free, one-day training for agricultural professionals on Tuesday, Aug. 27. Hosted at the NDSU Carrington Research Extension Center, participants will have the opportunity to hear from local cover crop experts and get hands-on experience in cover crop plots.

Key topics slated for discussion include:

• Best practices for designing cover crops that address specific on-farm goals, such as:

• Seeding timing

• Species and mixture selection

• In-field cover crop identification

• Managing cover crops for forage and grazing

Attendees will include crop advisors, educators, and USDA-NRCS and Soil and Water Conservation District employees.

While the event is free, space is limited. Register by Tuesday, Aug. 20 at ndsu.ag/ndcovercrops to secure a spot. The event is approved for 3 certified crop advisor continuing education units in soil and water and 1.5 in crop management. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. and concludes at 3 p.m. Lunch is provided.
