Wednesday afternoon, August 7, Patti Clifton and Jan Loe were in New Rockford where they had coffee at Rockford Café and did a little shopping and other errands.

It was a busy week in Sheyenne when it came to cement work. Eddy Shop concrete pour took place on Friday. The same day, Joseph Concrete completed the basement footings at the Sheyenne GRIT 301 Pleasant Ave. location. Bobby Hoffner and crew from Esmond finished the concrete phase of the stone pit near Ostby Hall.

After taking July off, some of the Sheyenne quilters met on the first Wednesday of August. LaRhae Dodds, Karen Birkeland and Randy Keller sorted through fabric bins and laid out several quilt tops. Quilters will meet again on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 1 p.m. if anyone would like to join the fun.

Patti Larson brought bars to Stan Kruger and visited last Tuesday. His new knee was "textbook" according to Stan's surgeon. Dawn, Ned and Kristi and family were home.

Peter and Joanna Larson, Jon and Michelle Gilley and Ian took in the Menoken Farm tour on Thursday. Guest speakers covered pasture management, soil health and conservation practices. The tour culminated at Black Leg Ranch where supper was served.

Saturday's beautiful weather provided the perfect backdrop for the Sheyenne Sidewalk Market. Several additional rummage sales cropped up – bringing the total to 17! Shoppers had a great time ... there was a wide variety of really good buys!

Also, six vendors sold everything from toys, jewelry, handmade cards and antiques to Sheyenne Stampede merchandise and clothes for dolls and dogs.

One really popular spot along Main Street was the Farmers Market. Myhre's had sweet corn, other produce and baked goods; Marliss Platz brought donuts, jellies, salsa and more. Joanna Larson's farm stand, Prairie Gates, held a grand opening. Having a farm stand open 24/7 to pick up fresh locally-grown produce right on Main Street Sheyenne has been well received.

Ostby Hall had a steady flow of people, first for caramel rolls and later for lunch. It was a nice gathering place to visit and enjoy homemade goodies!

Thrivent sponsored amazing prizes of back-to-school supplies for the kids games that were held at the playground. Alyssa, Trysta and Cambree Thumb organized the games this year.

There was a lot of activity around the Ames residence and the VFW on Saturday afternoon when family and friends gathered to surprise Becky with a 70th birthday party. Lots of visiting and reminiscing prompted by a unique photo display of Becky across the VFW lawn.

Tiffany Harr called bingo on Saturday, Aug. 10 as Randy Keller and Bob Hanson sold cards. Dianne Hanson and Darlene Kolstad served lunch for Sheyenne Civic Association There is no bingo Saturday, Aug. 17, the night of the Sheyenne Stampede and Eli Young concert. At the next bingo on August 24, blackout will be for $225 when the Sheyenne Fire Department hosts.

Patti Larson visited Terry and Linda Winning on Sunday afternoon when returning a bar pan from the day before.

Sunday evening, Patti Larson drove her mom out to the Cudworth farm east of Sheyenne to see the field pea harvest. What would have been a bumper crop was reduced drastically in the July hail storm.

Rodney Larson finished cleaning up around the old creamery building across from Ostby Hall on Main Street. Sheyenne GRIT will be working on what to do with that building.

Jan Loe and Bonnie Deegan attended worship at Calvary Lutheran Church in Oberon on Sunday morning. After the service, they went on to Devils Lake for lunch at Mr. & Mrs. J's and also did some shopping before returning to Sheyenne that afternoon.
