Pearl Eldridge, age 84, of New Rockford, N.D., died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, at her home.
Pearl's visitation was held on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024 from 1-2 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m., all at First Lutheran Church, New Rockford. Her burial followed at the Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford, N.D. Rev. Amy Kippen officiated the service with special music by Kerstin Allmaras, pianist. Congregational hymns were "Amazing Grace," "How Great Thou Art" and "Old Rugged Cross." Pallbearers were Duane Reiser, Jerry Reiser, Hayden Eldridge, Jayden Yost, Cory Schmidt and Anthony Schmidt. Honorary bearers were all of Pearl's grandchildren.
Pearl was born July 4, 1940 at Kulm, N.D., to John and Magdalina Ruff. She grew up and attended school in Kulm. She later moved to Ellendale where she worked at the hospital.
On July 1, 1967, Pearl was united in marriage to Glenn Eldridge. They made their home in New Rockford where they raised their three children. She worked several jobs, from painting and cleaning houses, to working in the kitchen at the school. The job she had the most passion for was her CNA work at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd. Pearl retired in 2019. Her favorite pastimes were her dish towels and baking. If you stopped by her house, you could usually find her embroidering dish towels. She was also a master at making kuchen, and usually around December she would make her famous fruit cake.
She is survived by her son, Randy of New Rockford; her daughter Lisa (Anthony) of Mercer, N.D.; two grandsons, Hayden (Krista) of Fargo, N.D. and Cory of New Rockford; two granddaughters, Jayden of Ada, Minn., and Brooklyn of Mercer, N.D.; two great-grandchildren, Karsyn and Thielen; one sister, Mabel of Aberdeen, S.D.; and many nieces and nephews.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; one son, Wayne; her parents; three brothers, Clarence, LeRoy and Laverne; and two sisters, Viola and Delores.
