Got a leak? He'll take a peek

Korff opens Hometown Plumbing in New Rockford

New Rockford has a new plumbing business in town.

Scott Korff, an experienced plumber with Larsen Plumbing of Carrington, N.D., has kicked off a new chapter in his career by starting his own business, called Hometown Plumbing, a few miles to the north in New Rockford.

Korff is a native of Sheboygan, Wisconsin and moved to North Dakota in November of 2008. He currently lives in Woodworth, N.D. and has worked as a plumber in Carrington for over a decade.

All totaled, he has approximately 35 years of experience in the plumbing industry, dating back to his time at Lakeshore Technical College in Wisconsin, where he graduated in 1990 and completed an apprenticeship program.

"I've got commercial and residential experience in plumbing, I've done underground site work, and just a little variety of everything," said Korff.

He has since earned his title as a Master Plumber here in North Dakota, and when asked what drove him to start his own business at this point in his career, Korff said it was simply time to make a change.

"I've worked for someone my entire life," he said, "and I felt it was just time to try this on my own."

Korff is operating Hometown Plumbing out of an office located in New Rockford, and he said he'll be offering a number of plumbing services for residents and businesses in town and the surrounding area.

Hometown Plumbing is able to clean sewers, use a camera to inspect sewer lines and locate problems, and do plumbing work for remodels as well as for new construction of both commercial and residential properties.

"[Customers] will get prompt service and a call back, and we'll do a professional job," said Korff.

He also said he's looking forward to serving this community, and talked about how important it is to have reliable plumbing services these days.

"There's such a shortage in this trade and it's only going to get worse before it gets better," he said. "There really is a lack of plumbers out there, and I was told through the state that this trade is down about 30% as far as enrollment goes."

In that respect, New Rockford and the surrounding communities can consider themselves lucky to have another plumber nearby.

Anyone interested in Hometown Plumbing's services can contact Korff via his cell phone at (701) 230-5060, or via his office number at (701) 947-5995.

His office is open from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., and anyone is welcome to walk in whenever he's available. His office is located on the south side of Cash & Carry Lumber at 1754 3rd Avenue SE.
