Although winds were anticipated on Friday, Oct. 4, the day brought warm sunshine to New Rockford. It seemed to be a quiet day. Then, what Rockford Café owner, Mary Richter, and customers didn't expect to see were two slightly familiar faces who stopped to eat at the café. Visitors to their hometown of New Rockford were Doug Larson and Greg Guler.

Greg's father was Harry Guler, who operated the Guler Meat Locker located to the right of Hanson's Bar until an unfortunate fire destroyed the building.

Greg was a New Rockford High School graduate, Class of 1975. He became a successful artist in the comic art industry and worked for Disney also.

Doug Larson, whose father was Dennis Larson, said Deb Belquist gave them a tour of the school and the theatre. They stopped at the New Rockford Post Office to see the eagle and the Indian painting.

They said the smells and sights brought back warm memories. Greg said he saw the original artist at work, who also painted the cowboy paintings on the walls at Hanson's Bar. Greg said the man used a wide paint brush!

Greg and Doug seemed to be enjoying reminiscing and telling some stories.

It is always great to have visitors return to New Rockford. Please stop at the café and tell us your name and/or stop at the Transcript office to put your name in Talk of the Town.

Out of town visitor at the Helen Duda home was her sister, Janet (Dockter) Banning.

Sympathies to Jim and Fern (Greb) Schuster families due to the loss of his sister Sandy and Fern's younger brother in Texas.
