Lorraine LeBlanc, 64, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, in her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and her loving husband after a long battle with cancer.
Lorraine Denise (Backman) LeBlanc was born in New Rockford, N.D. to Donald and Gerda (Gedrose) Backman on June 9, 1960. She grew up on a farm east of New Rockford in Tiffany Township and graduated from New Rockford High School in 1978.
She attended the University of North Dakota after enjoying her trip there for Girls State. She graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration. It was during her freshman year there that she met Charles "Chuck" LeBlanc and they married June 12, 1982. They had two children, Stephanie and Matthew, the joy of their lives.
Lorraine worked at the U.S. Geological Survey office in Grand Forks until retirement in June of 2022. She enjoyed quilting, UND Hockey and spending time with her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Gerda Backman; sister Gail (Backman) Klumph; and brother Robert "Bob" Backman.
She is survived by her husband Chuck; daughter Stephanie LeBlanc; and son Matt LeBlanc.
Visitation was held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, at Sharon Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, N.D. followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Interment was at Nystrom Cemetery, Sheyenne, N.D.
