Slayin' the Dragons

The New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets hosted Region 4 competitors, the Dunseith Lady Dragons, on Thursday, Oct. 10 during homecoming week.

Before the start of the game, NR-S senior Kaiya O'Connor was recognized for recently surpassing 1,000 digs at the Des Lacs Tournament back on Saturday, Oct 5. Congratulations Kaiya!

The Rockets quickly took down the Lady Dragons in a clean sweep (25-15, 25-14, 25-16).

O'Connor led the Rockets in kills with a total of 11 followed by Tillie Swart and Jaida Schumacher, each with three.

NR-S sophomore Emmie Belquist accrued the most digs for the Rockets with 13, followed by Logan Cudworth with nine and Bailey Jacobson and Alivia Yri each with three.

Among the entire team, the Rockets allocated 21 service aces. Cudworth scored seven, Yri had five, Karsyn Wetzel and Jacobson each earned four and O'Connor took one.

The Rockets c-squad, eighth grade and seventh grade teams swept the Lady Dragons in two sets, whereas the b-squad team went to three sets, taking a 2-1 win.
