Rockets defeat Chargers in final home game of season

The New Rockford-Sheyenne volleyball team held their last home game on Tuesday, Oct. 29 against the Region 4 Nelson County Chargers.

After being on a recent losing streak, the Rockets were fired up and ready to win for their last home game.

The first set was iffy for the Rockets. Both the Rockets and the Chargers rallied to the finish with the Chargers coming out on top 29-27 in set one.

The Rockets came back fighting in the final three sets to defeat the Chargers 3-1 overall (25-18, 25-22, 25-19).

During this matchup, Nelson County senior Brooke Watkins and sophomore Mya Luehring each recorded their 500th career digs. Congratulations Brooke and Mya!

The Rockets eighth grade team was the only other team to walk away with a victory, as b-squad, c-squad and seventh grade all took tough losses.

The Rockets will finish their regular season on Monday, Nov. 4 as they head to Maddock to take on the Benson County Wildcats (A,B) starting at 6 p.m.

With this win over the Chargers, the Rockets have earned the No. 4 seed in the Region 4 Volleyball Tournament that will be held at the Devils Lake Sports Center starting on Monday, Nov. 11. The Rockets will take on the No. 5 seed around 5:30 p.m. Once the bracket is available, it will be posted on our website and Facebook page.
