Larry was born in New Rockford, N.D. on May 21, 1949 to Francis and Adeline (Dusek) Arendt. He grew up on the family farm near Bremen and attended elementary school in Bremen and grades 7-12 at St. James Academy in New Rockford. Athletics and his classmates in the class of 1967 were so very important to him. He attended NDSU where he met his love, Nancy Nord. They were married on Jan. 30, 1971. They both graduated in May of 1971 and moved back to Bremen to begin their farming career. There they raised four kids, lots of crops and cattle. He retired from farming in 1996 and worked road construction, ran forklift at Dakota Growers Pasta Plant and hauled concrete until he retired in 2015.

Larry was an active member of both St. Joseph's and St. John's Catholic churches and the Knights of Columbus. He served on the Bremen Elevator Board, the St. James School Board, the Bremen Township Board and was an Eagles member. Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman and passed on his love for the outdoors to many of his family.

Larry's love of sports continued his whole life. As an adult he played softball, legion and amateur baseball and refereed both boys and girls high school basketball. It brought him so much joy to watch his kids and grandkids play the sports they loved. Golf was a passion of his and he spent countless hours improving his game and enjoying time with his friends on the course. Larry and Nancy won many local golf tournaments together.

Larry's faith in the Lord and positive, hardworking, generous attitude toward life were evident and an example to all through his life and cancer journey. He showed us how thankful he was for his life, his blessings and his family. He was so proud of his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids, they meant everything to him.
