On the evening of July 15, 1907, Frank Mahara’s Operatic Minstrels appeared at the Opera House. There were 25 “colored stars,” headed by LeRoy Bland. There were comedians, music by Mahara’s Challenge Band and Orchestra, singing and splendid costumes, all preceded by a street parade.
